Integration

Testimonial
"Noggin designed an intelligent and robust solution that integrated our systems seamlessly, on a critical service used by 50,000 people every day. They were fast and easy to work with, and really knew their stuff"

Noggin has extensive experience integrating information systems and developing and supporting large-scale web-based systems. This includes the development, integration and support of such systems as:

  • A staff intranet and electronic payslip system for a major retailer (200,000 employees across 12 brands)
  • A field operations system for a global engineering and manufacturing corporation, providing CRM, service & maintenance management, project management, manufacturing specification and management reporting functions to several thousand users, in multiple languages in 19 countries across Asia, Europe and the Middle East

The systems and technologies we have experience integrating with include access control and management, geospatial information systems, system monitoring and SCADA, business intelligence, payroll, customer relationship management, content management systems and finance and ERP systems such as SAP.

Our OCA flagship product series has a built-in integration platform called OCA Connect that allows us to build custom connectors to push and pull data from existing databases, and Noggin has experience integrating with a broad range of database technologies. OCA Connect has a documented technical interface (API) and is built on open technical standards.

Because each organisation has different integration requirements, data models and technologies, Noggin will work with your technicians to integrate according to your organisation's preferred solution. This will likely depend on a few factors including:

  • The extent of data fields and number of records to be integrated
  • Which system(s) will be the master system for records
  • How often the data should be refreshed or transferred
  • Preferred technologies and protocols for connecting to other systems and the required level of access
  • Whether changes flow between systems in one direction or both ways, and any need to synchronise changes.

Some typical integration techniques that we have used include:

  • XML or CSV files via HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SFTP, or email
  • XML-SOAP and other web service APIs
  • LDAP and Active Directory
  • ODBC connections

Some of the geospatial data formats and protocols we have worked with include GML, KML, WKT, ESRI and MapInfo.
